## 1.11 The Field and Its Lines

Size of the field, side-lines and back-lines, goal-lines, the centre-line and the 23-metres lines.

### Test 1: The size of the field and the lines on it

- The field is a rectangle 91.40 metres long and 55.00 metres wide. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.1)
- Side-lines mark the longer perimeters, back-lines the shorter ones. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.2)
- Only the stretch of back-line between the two goal-posts is the goal-line. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.3)
- All lines are 75 mm wide. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.8)
- Every line belongs to the field of play, so a ball on the side-line is still in. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.8)
- The centre-line runs across the field, halfway between the back-lines. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.4)
- That area, lines included, is the 23-metres area; the circle is the smaller area in front of the goal. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Terminology (23-metres area))
- It is a 23-metres line, which is in fact marked 22.90 metres from the back-line; 14.63 metres is the distance to the front of the circle. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.5)
- The circle's straight is 14.63 m out, the 23-metres line 22.90 m, the centre-line 45.70 m. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rules 1.2-1.6)
- 22.90 m, then 45.70 m (half of 91.40 m), then the width of 55.00 m, then the length of 91.40 m. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rules 1.1, 1.4, 1.5)

## 1.12 Circles, Goals, Flags and Benches

The circles, penalty spots, goals, corner flag-posts and the team benches.

### Test 1: Circles, penalty spots, goals, flag-posts and benches

- Each penalty spot is centred 6.40 m from the inner edge of the goal-line, in front of the centre of the goal. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.7)
- A penalty spot is 150 mm in diameter. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.7)
- The goals are outside the field of play, at the centre of each back-line and touching it. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.10)
- The Rules name penalty corner equipment, towels and water bottles: no items may be placed inside the goals. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.10)
- Flag-posts at the corners are between 1.20 and 1.50 metres high. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.9)
- Since the 2027 edition the Rules only allow flag-posts at the corners; competition Regulations may make them compulsory, for example where a match is televised. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.9)
- A bench for each team stands outside the field, both along the same side. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.11)
- The circle is the area enclosed by and including the circle-lines, and every line is part of the field, so a ball on the circle-line is inside the circle. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 1.8; Terminology (Circle))
- About 6.4 m, 14.63 m, 19.63 m (5 m beyond the circle) and 22.90 m. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rules 1.5, 1.7; Specifications 1.4)
- 75 mm, 150 mm, 1.20 m and 3.66 m between the posts. (Fuente: FIH Rules 2027, Rules 1.7-1.9; Specifications 1.5)
