Jump Faults in Figure Skating (Level 3: Pre-Intermediate) on Insporta: 20 sourced facts behind 2 tests. Covers: missing rotation.

Missing rotation, poor take-offs and landings, popped and attempted jumps.

## Test 1: Missing rotation

- q, landed on the quarter, marks a jump missing a quarter of a revolution. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- Under-rotated means more than a quarter but less than half a revolution missing. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A jump missing half a revolution or more is downgraded. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A downgraded jump is scored from the values of the jump with one revolution less, so a triple as a double. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A jump over-rotated by more than a quarter is called as the higher jump, downgraded: 2T becomes 3T<<. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- With a q the judges cannot award good take-off and landing, so the GOE cannot start at +4. (Source: ISU Handbook for Referees & Judges, Single and Pair Skating 2026/27)
- Landings are reviewed in super slow motion; take-offs for edges in slow; falls and take-offs for cheats in regular speed. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A clean jump misses nothing, q a quarter, < more than a quarter, << half a turn or more. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A cheated take-off is checked at regular speed, the take-off edge in slow motion, and the landing in super slow. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- D misses more than half its last turn, so it is downgraded. A is complete, B misses a quarter (q), C about a third (<). (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)

## Test 2: Take-offs, landings and attempts

- Using the whole blade instead of the toe pick is a poor take-off, cutting the grade of execution. (Source: ISU Handbook for Referees & Judges, Single and Pair Skating 2026/27)
- The call stays the same when a jump is landed on the incorrect edge; the judges reflect it in the GOE. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27; ISU Handbook for Referees & Judges, Single and Pair Skating 2026/27)
- A popped listed jump counts as one jump element, whatever it was meant to be. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A small hop or jump of up to half a revolution used as decoration is not a jump; it counts in the Composition component. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- Non-listed jumps such as the Walley, the split jump or an inside Axel do not count as jump elements. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A clear preparation and leaving the ice, with or without a turn, is an attempt: it has no value and blocks a box. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- With ! the base value is not reduced; with e it is. Both are reflected in the judges' grades. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- A clean jump counts fully, a popped listed jump still counts as one element, a decorative hop is not a jump at all. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- Even without leaving the ice, a clear loop take-off ending in a fall can be called an attempt: no value, box blocked. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
- e on card B marks a definitely wrong edge. ! means unclear, q a quarter short, < under-rotated. (Source: ISU Technical Panel Handbook, Single Skating 2026/27)
