When a team's error counts, turn and twizzle errors, features and group lifts.

## Test 1: When a team's mistake counts

- An error counts when a quarter of the team makes it: four skaters on a team of 16. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A quarter of the team: three skaters on a team of 12 to 15, two on a team of 8 to 11. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Turn errors include two-footed entries or exits, a touching free foot, jumped, flat, skidded or not attempted turns. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Twizzle errors include a touch down, checked three turns, twizzling on the spot and a looping action; slowness is not one. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Slowly rotating twizzles are counted; the speed of rotation is not a Technical Panel consideration. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- In synchronized skating the turns must match: different types at the same moment count as an error. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- If a scenario has no clear resolution, the decision must be made in favour of the team. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A quarter of the team: two, three and four skaters. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Elements are reviewed in order; the reason is stated, the replay speed set, and the decision taken by majority. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- B has four ringed skaters, a quarter of 16. A has three, C two and D one, too few to count. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)

## Test 2: Features as the panel sees them

- Each skater helps by skating towards the new place; slowing down to let another pass does not meet the requirement. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A block that only pivots to show a different number of lines does not meet the change of configuration feature. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Open to closed with the same number of lines is not counted as two different configurations. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A recognizable jump needs an up and down motion; rotations may be cheated and two-foot take-offs and landings are allowed. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Lifted skaters are permitted to rest on the shoulders of the supporting skaters during any part of a group lift. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A position is difficult if the back shows a strong bend or arch, at least a semi-circle, even without a full split. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A spiral variation is not considered a difficult position unless the back shows a strong arch. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- The position is held two seconds before the first feature; the change of side may follow at once, then two more seconds. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- Up to four foot placements are allowed between twizzles; a third twizzle may be added as a feature. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
- A turns all its loops in one place. B, C and D travel along the ice as a twizzle should. (Source: ISU Handbook for Technical Panels, Synchronized Skating 2025/26)
