What umpires aim for, advantage, control, firmness and the use of penalties.

## 15.151 Objectives and Advantage

The umpire's aims and qualities, and when to play advantage.

### Тест 1: What umpires aim for, and playing advantage

- Umpires raise the standard of the game at all levels by ensuring that players observe the Rules. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 1.2)
- Umpires maintain the respect of players by being consistent. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 1.3)
- An umpire must be themselves and not imitate another person, at all times. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 1.3)
- Umpires need a thorough knowledge of the Rules, but the spirit of the Rule and common sense govern interpretation. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 1.4)
- Unnecessary interruptions cause delay and irritation; offences that bring the offender no benefit need not be penalised. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.2)
- When the Rules have been broken, the umpire must apply advantage if that is the most severe penalty. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.2)
- Having decided to play advantage, the umpire must not give a second opportunity by reverting to the original penalty. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.2)
- Possession does not automatically mean advantage; the team with the ball must be able to develop play, so a free hit is the right call. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.2)
- Advantage is applied when it is the most severe penalty, and the decision is not reversed afterwards. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.2)
- Possession alone is not an advantage, so the umpire awards the penalty. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.2)

## 15.152 Control and Penalties

Dealing with serious and intentional offences, abuse, yellow card lengths and combined penalties.

### Тест 1: Control, firmness and the use of penalties

- The seriousness of an offence must be identified and serious offences dealt with early and firmly. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.1)
- Intentional offences must be penalised firmly. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.1)
- Decisions must be made promptly, positively, clearly and consistently. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.3)
- Cautions can be given to players in close proximity without stopping the match. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.3)
- There must be a clear difference: 5 minutes for a minor offence, 10 minutes for a more serious or physical one. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.3)
- Abuse by players or team officials, in words or body language, must be dealt with firmly, with cautions or suspensions where appropriate. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.3)
- Two penalties can be used together to deal with bad or persistent offences. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.4)
- When a player intentionally misbehaves in a serious manner towards an umpire, the red card must be shown immediately. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.3)
- Persistent offences can be met with two penalties together and with cards of rising category. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Umpiring 2.3, 2.4; Rule 14.1)
- 2 minutes, 5 minutes, then 10 minutes. (Источник: FIH Rules 2027, Rule 14.1; Umpiring 2.3)
