Level 9 is knowledge about where futsal and its ideas came from: the history and evolution of the game. The FIFA Futsal Coaching Manual (2025) chapter 2 supplies the outline; the detail comes from general, verifiable futsal history, with a real source cited per question. Five sub-levels: origins (Juan Carlos Ceriani, the YMCA court in Montevideo in 1930, the borrowings from basketball, water polo, handball and hockey, the name futbol de salon); two governing bodies (FIFUSA formed in 1971 and its AMF continuation, FIFA taking up the indoor game and staging the first Futsal World Championship in 1989, how the two codes differ, unification talk); national schools (Brazil's individual technique, Spain's collective system, Portugal's rise, Russia and the naturalisation era, Iran in Asia, Argentina's 2016 world title); the evolution of tactics (the fixed-pivot era, the birth of rotation, the 4-0, the flying goalkeeper from trick to system, the modern pressing game); and how the Laws changed (the kick-in replacing the roll-in and then the throw-in, the arrival of accumulated fouls and the 10 m kick, the four-second rule, unlimited flying substitutions, the timeout). Where a sub-level revisits a Law or a tactic already taught in an earlier level, the question is framed on when and why it changed, not on restating the current rule.

Written from
FIFA Futsal Coaching Manual (2025) chapter 2 (History of futsal) for the outline of origins, governance and how the game spread. The detail of dates, names and firsts is general, verifiable futsal history: each question cites a specific real source in its Source line rather than a blanket manual reference. Where 9.4 and 9.5 revisit a tactic or a Law already taught for Levels 1-7 (the 4-0, the flying goalkeeper, the kick-in, accumulated fouls, the four-second rule), the question is framed on the point in history when it changed and why, and cites the source for that change.
