Level 1 is how futsal actually works. The shape of a match: five a side including the goalkeeper, two twenty-minute periods of stopped time, how a match is won, drawn and decided, the coin toss and the kick-off, and where the game came from. The court and the kit: the pitch and its markings, the penalty area of two quarter-circles rather than a rectangle, the ten-metre second penalty mark, the substitution zones, the three-by-two-metre goals and the low-bounce ball. Players, substitutions and the bench: rolling substitutions on the fly through a team's own zone, up to nine substitutes, changing the goalkeeper and the flying goalkeeper. Scoring, restarts and the four-second rule: the goal, the kick-in that replaces the throw-in, the goal clearance thrown rather than kicked, the corner, and no offside. Fouls, cards and accumulated fouls: direct against indirect free kicks, the yellow and red card, the two-minute numerical reduction, and what changes at a team's sixth foul in a period.

FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game 2025/26 (approved by the Bureau of the FIFA Council, effective 5 September 2025) for every rule; the FIFA Futsal Coaching Manual (2025), chapter 2, and general futsal history for the sport's origins and governance. Both FIFA publications are free to download but not open-licensed, so questions are authored in original wording from these sources, never reproduced. A specific clause reference sits in each question's source field, never in the stem.
