Age-Group Racing and Qualification

10 tests · 100 facts · updated 12 October 2026 · markdown

How age groups and race age work, World Triathlon age-group championships and kit rules, how Ironman World Championship slots are earned under the age-graded system introduced for 2026, and the drafting, penalty, protest, run and bike rules that age-groupers race under.

Each test below is ten questions on Insporta. The list under a test is what the questions check: one fact per question, with the source it was written from. Read it before the test, or come back from a wrong answer.

Source: IRONMAN announcement on 2026 World Championship age-group qualification (15 November 2025) · recall

  3. 11:00 is 10% over a 10:00 benchmark; 12:36 is 5% over a 12:00 benchmark, so the older athlete ranks higher.

Source: IRONMAN announcement on 2026 World Championship age-group qualification (15 November 2025) · applied

  4. The older athlete's benchmark is slower, so the same raw time is a stronger performance relative to it.

Source: IRONMAN announcement on 2026 World Championship age-group qualification (15 November 2025) · applied
