Where the scorer sits and what he does before the match and each set, during play, and at the end: the score sheet, the buzzer, the serving order, set ends, protests and signatures.

The scorer's table, the buzzer, registering the teams and recording the line-ups.

  1. The scorer is seated at the scorer's table on the opposite side of the court, facing the 1st referee.

  2. He fills in the score sheet according to the rules, co-operating with the 2nd referee.

  3. He uses a buzzer or other sound device.

  4. He registers the match and team data, including the Liberos, and obtains the captains' and coaches' signatures.

  5. He records the starting line-ups from the line-up sheets, or checks the data sent electronically.

  6. If the line-up sheets do not arrive on time he notifies the 2nd referee immediately.

  7. Coaches may not ask scorers for information, except about their own team when the scoreboard does not show it.

  8. The scorer acknowledges and announces substitution requests with the buzzer, keeps count and informs the 2nd referee.
