1. A goalkeeper must not take part in the match outside the 23-metres area they defend, except to take a penalty stroke.

2. Protective headgear must be worn at all times except when the goalkeeper takes a penalty stroke.

3. Taking a penalty stroke is the exception to the goalkeeper's 23-metres limit.

4. Inside their circle, stick in hand, goalkeepers may use stick and body to deflect the ball over the back-line or play it any other way.

5. The permission of Rule 10.2 applies when the goalkeeper has their stick in their hand.

6. Goalkeepers must not lie on the ball.

7. Goalkeepers must not play dangerously by taking advantage of the protective equipment they wear.

8. When the ball is outside the circle they defend, goalkeepers may only play it with their stick.

9. Body play is allowed only in the circle, stick-only play up to the 23-metres line, nothing beyond except a penalty stroke.

10. A goalkeeper may deflect the ball over the back-line; play re-starts on the 23-metres line in line with where it crossed.
